It rained, and rained, and rained...but we still had a great Father's Day weekend. Hope you did too. On Saturday, I gave Keith Part I, his first grill. Don't think big here folks...think little and portable. No bells and whistles. Just a simple, charcoal grill perfect for the three of us. I wanted him to open it on Saturday so he could assemble and grill for the rest of the weekend. The inauguration on Saturday was not hindered by the rain. Keith was more than willing to get out there in the rain to fire it up. Turkey burgers...delish!
(I mixed grated gruyere and chopped garlic in the meat before making the patties. Try it! They were so flavorful and moist!)

Sunday, we gave Daddy part II and III of his Father's Day. Keith's favorite meal is steak and twice-baked potatoes. So, I wrapped up beef and spuds for him to open. He was definitely not expecting it. His face was hilarious when he reached in and found the frozen slabs of meat and raw potatoes. Surprise! Isaac gave Daddy a package of firecrackers...another one of Keith's favorite things. He has told me stories about going out on the 4th of July to shoot off fireworks. (just goes to show he did not grow up in Texas...where summer is dry and brown. hello fire hazzard!!! i'll let you know how it goes here in CT.) So, Keith grilled the steaks, I made twice baked potatoes, and of course we finished it off with a homemade cookie cake. The icing on the cake was Keith (
and i) watched the Star Wars Trilogy throughout the course of the weekend. Does it get any better?

A few things about Isaac...he discovered how to give himself kisses. He sits in front of the mirror to play and then, noticing himself, he leans forward, places his hands on the glass for support, and either licks or kisses his reflection. The full length mirror in our room I bought at an antique mall in Fort Worth. I love it because it has three panels of mirrors, just like in a department store dressing room! As it turns out, Isaac loves it too because he has three reflections to play with instead of one. He is also loving Peek-a-Boo. We play like this...he lays on the floor on his back. We drop a blanket or cloth and he squeels in delight as it falls to cover his face. Then, he freezes and waits. Still, arms and legs ready but unmoving in anticipation as we ask..."Where's Isaac?" over and over. Sometimes he will suddenly grab the blanket and pull it off, sometimes he is so frozen and still, that we have to pull it off as we shout, "There he is!!". He screams and laughs, we crack up. Hours of fun. Save money, come over for hours of free entertainment.

MWAH! I'm kissin' you, Isaac!
And, nice job on Father's Day, Darlin' :) It all worked out!
hi, loves! what a great 1st Fathers Day! It'd only have been better if we all could have been together! Can't wait to see you in Aug. I had to laugh about the frozen steaks ... one Christmas PapaDoc gave me a couple of frozen stuffed pork chops!! Go figure. And more family trivia: Aunt Deb used to mesmerize herself in front of the mirrors for hours with TuTu's jewelry. And Daddy Keith used to cover his face w silky "luvies" for minutes at a time while playing peek a boo.... Must be something in the genes! Have a great weekend. Luv Mia
Happy birthday, Steph! Hope you are doing well. Isaac is adorable!w
