A little town called Hamden

So, in the attempt to keep our distant loved ones informed of our adventures and life in Connecticut, I have finally decided to get on the blog bandwagon that the rest of my generation boarded about 5 years ago. I have never been one to boast being technologically advanced...devoid would be a better description. However, this summer finds me with way too much time on my hands, and no one to share it with...except my books, kitchen, and now, my laptop. Enter...the blog.

DISCLAIMERS...
1) i am a horrible speller. horrible!
2) my grammar is great in Spanish...not quite up to par in English.
3) neither of the above are directly linked to my intelligence.
Alrighty...having said all that...here we go...

On May 21, we hitched up the "big yellow truck", as my nephew Grant still calls it, with my little car in tow, and Keith's truck following to make the 3 day 2 night journey to CT. Not a smooth trip...but we (Mom, big brother John, Keith, and I) made it. Dad flew up to join us. (good decision, dad!) In about 4 days, we managed to establish our new home on 1340 Whitney Avenue, curtains and all.

Why Hamden, CT? Quinnipiac University. Quinni-what? Yeah, we had never heard of it either. It stands just 10 minutes north of us, in Yale's great shadow, yet outranks Yale's program significantly. Keith's quest to become a P.A. (Physician's Assitant) led him to apply to the highly ranked program at Quinnipiac, amongst others. Once accepted, we could not turn them down.

Hamden was "incorporated" in 1786...and is the perfect combination of history and practicality. It is the home of Eli Whitney (yes, the cotton guy), hence Whitney Ave. Within walking distance...a used bookstore, fresh market, pub, yoga studio, post office, park, and I even get to stroll past a large cemetery where most of the gravestones date in the 1800's. Within driving distance are all major modern necesities...Stop-n-Shop, Target, Old Navy, Bed Bath & Beyond, beach, and a mall with H&M! I think we'll do just fine...in our blue house with a blue door in a little town called Hamden. Visitors are welcome...anytime! (HINT!)
