one year old

Yesterday we celebrated Isaac's first birthday. I awoke with Isaac laying next to me in bed and I told him all about the day he was born...how I woke at 5 a.m. having seriously close contractions...how I arrived to the hospital at 7 cm, and then got stuck at 9 cm for three hours because his umbilical cord was too short...how I pushed and pushed, and then the doctor finally had to help by suctioning out his little head...how Daddy and I decided on his name once we saw his face...how we got snowed in at the hospital by the first big NorEaster storm so we had no visitors...and how he was perfect, absolutely perfect...and how he still is.

So, what a day! Isaac started by going out with Grandma, Grandad, and I for a pancake breakfast at our favorite diner. The pancake was HUGE! Don't worry, he only ate about half. That kid can pound down some pancakes! Then, he went to daycare for a birthday party with his friends and a homemade cookie cake while we prepared for his party here at the house. Last night, more friends came over for a Western Chili Round-Up. We had all the fixin's and some chocolate birthday cake for dessert. Isaac was pretty tired when it was time to sing and try the cake. He cried...that is until he tasted the frosting. Yum!

Here's some pictures from the day...ENJOY! Wish you all could have been here with us!
